What is life stress? Experiencing stress is a not an uncommon thing. It happens all the time since people experience stress in one time or another. However, people differ on how they handle such stress.

People experience eustress when they are riding a roller coaster, playing a game or when they fall in love. This stress is needed so people can have a balanced and exciting life. Eustress makes people feel alive and vital. This is entirely different from chronic stress which is the kind of stress that is harmful to the body.

Another fact is that psychological changes happen when a person is experiencing a good amount of life stress. These changes automatically occur so that the body will be temporarily in top shape to fight, run or cope up with stress. However, if a person does not get rid of the stress quickly, he will remain in this altered condition too long. A sustained condition of this kind impairs a person’s health and causes stress related ailments.

Therefore, it is important to practice stress relieving techniques to get rid of this stress. Good examples of life tress relievers include breathing exercises, meditation or listening to music.

Another fact of life stress is that although stress is forever present, a person can control it. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating the right kind of food, having adequate rest and regular exercise can all help in alleviating stress. Having good friends, maintaining a positive outlook in life and having a good and enjoyable job can also lessen stress significantly.

One should also remember that the effects of life stress does not manifest overnight. Small amounts of stress add up over the months or even years. It slowly tears up the body in all levels. Many stressed out people don’t even know that they are taking so much stress until the body is ravaged by all kinds of diseases in a later age.
